From a postmigrant perspective, the concepts transversal city and transtopia are developed for conceptually and empirically rethinking urban future. Transversality is conceptualized, analyzed, and differentiated by identification of four main characteristic discursive moments. The changed modes of knowledge production and their consequences for social justice, sustainable development, the evolution of a new processuality of governance, politics, and production of the urban are discussed.

In dem vorliegenden Artikel wir auf Grundlage von Leitfadeninterviews in der Stadt Köln und dem Landkreis Heinsberg der Frage nachgegangen, welche Vorstellungen auf der einen Seite die FluchtmigrantInnen selbst über ihre „Integration“ in Deutschland haben und welche Vorstellungen bei den Personen vorliegen, welche beruflich oder ehrenamtlich mit der Betreuung neu zugewanderter Geflüchteter zu tun haben.

Especially in metropolises, various political programmes aim at commodifying the potential of migrant economies for urban development. Nevertheless, there is a gap in research concerning the importance of migrant economies for urban development in smaller cities. This article discusses the topic as an issue of research and local politics in a post-migrant perspective. In the end, various challenges remain on how to deal with migrant economies in political and academic practice.
